Descriptions, ready to paste

One line (12 words)

An alarm clock that won't switch off until you've solved something.

Short (about 50 words)

MathWake is a loud alarm clock and sleep tracker for iPhone. It rings even when the phone is on silent, and it won't stop until you finish a wake-up mission — solving math, typing a phrase, repeating a colour pattern, or getting out of bed to scan a real object with the camera.

Long (about 120 words)

MathWake is an alarm clock built for people who dismiss alarms in their sleep. It rings at full volume even with the silent switch on, and it cannot be turned off by reflex: the alarm stops only once you complete a wake-up mission. There are eight, ranging from mental arithmetic and typing to a camera hunt that requires finding and scanning a real object in another room. It also tracks your night using the phone's motion sensor and ambient sound, producing a sleep score, a stage hypnogram and a weekly summary with wake-up streaks. All sleep data is processed and stored on the device. MathWake is free, including the sleep tracker; a Premium subscription unlocks the remaining missions and all 78 alarm sounds.

Key features

  • Eight wake-up missions — math, missing symbol, typing, colour tiles, shake, object hunt, barcode scan, or a plain stop button.
  • Rings on silent — a custom audio path plays at full volume with the silent switch engaged.
  • Camera missions — the alarm keeps ringing until you physically get up and scan a real object or a barcode. Detection runs on-device; no images leave the phone.
  • Sleep tracker — motion and ambient-sound based, with a sleep score, light/deep/awake stages and a noisy-minutes count. Free.
  • Habit alarms — alarms built around a routine (drink water, take medication, read for ten minutes) with their own icon, times and sound.
  • Wake-up streaks and stats — a Summary tab with on-time rate, average bedtime, snooze counts and a streak.
  • 78 alarm sounds across calm, energetic, funny, emergency and techno categories.
  • Timer, stopwatch and quick alarms in the same app.
  • 20 languages.

Brand colour is #FF4C00 on a near-black #0D0D12. The name is written MathWake — one word, capital M and W.

Background

MathWake started from a narrow, unglamorous problem: on iOS, an alarm app that is not the system Clock has a hard time actually waking anyone. The silent switch, background limits and a user who dismisses alarms without waking are all working against it. Most of the engineering behind MathWake is about reliability — layered scheduling so the alarm still fires if the app has been killed, audio that survives the silent switch, and a dismissal step that a half-asleep brain cannot complete on autopilot.

The sleep tracker came later, from the same premise: the alarm already knows when you went to bed and when you actually got up, so the data was there. It is deliberately modest about what it measures — motion and sound, not brain activity — and it says so.

The app is built by one developer and has no venture funding, no analytics on sleep data, and no server: everything the tracker records stays on the phone.
