1. Overview
MathWake ("the app", "we", "us") is an alarm clock app that requires you to complete wake-up missions to dismiss your alarm. We built MathWake to be privacy-respecting: the app works primarily on your device, and we keep the data we collect to a minimum.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use MathWake, why, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data stored on your device
Your alarms, timers, mission settings, sound choices, history and app preferences are stored locally on your device (using on-device storage). We do not upload this content to our servers. If you use the Sleep Tracker, your sleep session data — including ambient noise levels measured by the microphone (decibel values only, never audio recordings) — is also stored only on your device and can be deleted at any time in the app settings.
2.2 Data processed by third-party services
To run the app's free, ad-supported tier, manage purchases and understand how features are used, we rely on a small number of trusted providers. These may process limited technical identifiers as described below.
- Advertising identifiers used to serve and measure ads.
- Device & app information such as device model, operating system version and app version.
- Approximate usage events such as which screens are opened or when an alarm is created or dismissed (no personal content).
- Purchase and subscription status to unlock Premium features and restore purchases.
We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or account, and we do not collect the answers you type into missions.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide core alarm, timer, stopwatch and mission functionality.
- To show advertising in the free tier and measure its performance.
- To process and restore Premium purchases.
- To understand aggregate, anonymous usage and improve the app.
- To diagnose crashes and keep the app reliable.
4. Advertising
The free version of MathWake shows ads through Google AdMob. Depending on your region, you will be shown a consent prompt (Google's UMP consent flow). On iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency dialog also asks whether you allow tracking for personalized ads. If you decline, you'll still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
You can learn more about how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Upgrading to Premium removes all ads.
5. Purchases & Subscriptions
Premium is offered as an in-app purchase managed through the Apple App Store and processed via RevenueCat, which handles entitlement and receipt validation. Your payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your card or billing details. RevenueCat receives a non-personal app user identifier and purchase status to keep your Premium access in sync across reinstalls and devices.
6. Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymous usage events (for example, "alarm created" or "mission completed"). These events are not tied to your identity and contain no personal content. They help us understand which features are useful and where the experience can be improved.
7. Device Permissions
MathWake may request the following permissions, each only for the stated purpose:
- Notifications — to alert you when an alarm or timer fires, including backup notifications.
- Exact alarms / background activity — so alarms ring reliably at the set time, even in the background.
- Motion & sensors — for the Shake mission and shake-to-snooze.
- Microphone / audio session — used by the sound engine so the alarm can ring even on silent mode, and optionally by the Sleep Tracker to measure ambient noise levels (decibels) while you sleep. No audio is ever recorded, stored or uploaded.
You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
8. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal data. Limited technical data is shared only with the service providers named above (Google AdMob, RevenueCat, and Google Firebase) strictly to operate the features they power. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and integrity of our users and the app.
9. Children's Privacy
MathWake is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Your Choices & Rights
- Reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's privacy settings.
- Decline personalized-ad tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt (iOS).
- Remove all ads and minimize ad-related processing by upgrading to Premium.
- Delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
- Depending on your region (e.g. EEA, UK, California), request access to or deletion of data held about you by contacting us.
11. Changes & Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
